Statement of Purpose & Mission
We are a totally disability-owned (USBLN certified in 2016), multicultural company, federally recognized as a small business, that provides disability-related social science research services, program consultation and evaluation, product assessments, access recommendations, litigation support, social marketing and messaging, and cross-disability awareness training to both public and private clients. The company’s underlying philosophy is that ‘disability’ is a social construct, more a function of attitudinal and architectural barriers than of individuals’ impairments or 'imperfections'.
The unusual capitalization of ‘disAbility’ in the company’s name reflects our emphasis on the abilities of the nation’s largest minority, their ability to participate in and contribute to their communities, including the labor force. We are dedicated to activities that promote social justice and equity of opportunity for persons with all sorts of disabilities and the eradication of disparities between persons with so-called disabilities and the temporarily able-bodied population. Key to achievement of parity is full community inclusion, with total access, of persons with varying levels of abilities, on different dimensions in all aspects of life — education, employment, health care, housing, transportation, business, politics, communications, recreation, spirituality, sexuality, and the arts.
